According to the exercise plan, a rock collapse occurred at one of the mining sites, as a result of which a Komatsu 375 bulldozer with a driver inside ended up under the rubble.
As part of the response to the incident signal, dispatchers and responsible officials worked out the procedure for notifying management and emergency response services. Actions were also taken to evacuate workers from the emergency area, power outages were practiced, and the time for concentrating all emergency response forces in the designated location was checked: the auxiliary mine rescue team (AMRT), the open pit medical center team, and the Kemerovo Militarized Mine Rescue Squad (KMMS).
The open-pit mine employees as part of the VGK quickly arrived at the scene of the simulated accident and carried out actions to clear the rubble and extract the injured bulldozer operator from the captivity of the rock. The open-pit medical service specialists provided first aid to the injured person and ensured his evacuation to a medical facility.

The training did not affect the production process, so coal mining at the open pit did not stop for a minute. In total, about 30 people and 5 units of equipment were involved in the training, including specialists and equipment from the enterprise and the Kemerovo VGSO.
"We conduct such practical training events systematically. They allow the staff to develop the correct skills for responding to various emergency situations, they improve the overall safety culture at the enterprise and facilitate clearer coordination of all officials responsible for organizing rescue and emergency recovery operations in the event of an accident at the open-pit mine,” says Alexey Zelenin, Deputy Director for Occupational Health and Industrial Safety at Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company JSC.
