In 2024, the Kuzbass Fuel Company joint-stock company planted about 4,500 Siberian spruce seedlings in the Prokopyevsky municipal district of the Kemerovo region - Kuzbass.
Young trees were planted with the help of specialists from the regional forestry complex on a total area of about 1.5 hectares in the Elovskoye and Kerlegeshskoye tracts.
In 2025, measures are planned to control the survival rate of seedlings and, if necessary, additional additions of seedlings.
The coal company systematically carries out tree planting as part of compensatory reforestation - the environmental policy of the regions, provided for by the national project "Ecology".
According to the Forestry Code of the Russian Federation, enterprises conducting industrial activities are required to ensure reforestation on an area equal to the area of forest lands withdrawn for activities.
Forestry specialists note that, as a rule, Siberian spruce seedlings have a high survival rate and subsequently grow well even in conditions of a sharply continental climate.
