Two new 2G/4G base stations were built at the Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company coal mine

To increase the efficiency of production processes and the level of digitalization of industrial safety, two additional 2G/4G base stations from Beeline were built at the Vinogradovsky coal mine, a branch of Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company. Thanks to the commissioning of new base stations at the enterprise, the coverage of the mobile network has expanded, «dead zones» have disappeared, and the stability of communications for data transmission of telemetry and dispatch systems has increased.

Each base station includes three sector antennas mounted on a high mast. Each sector can receive information at a total speed of 27 megabits per second. This speed allows you to receive not only telemetry, but also real-time video from mining transport equipment. This helps to more effectively control and manage production, reduce equipment downtime, and increase the efficiency of its operation. The mine's dispatch service carries out online monitoring of all mining equipment 24/7.

– The Vinogradovsky open-pit mine consists of four mountain sections, the total length of the work front is more than 15 kilometers. 260 units of equipment are involved in the work every day. Thanks to the new base stations at the mine, we can use modern technologies to improve the efficiency and safety of production processes that rely on data transmission. In addition, our employees can also use mobile communications and the Internet to communicate with each other or with loved ones, – noted Natalia Karsaeva, General Director of KTC Consulting (a subsidiary accredited IT enterprise of Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company).

For a mobile operator, a coal mine is a difficult site in terms of providing stable mobile communications. When installing base station metal structures, it is necessary to take into account the geological features of the dumps, large elevation differences, wind and snow loads calculated for a specific area.

As the initial data for locating the base station, Beeline used the results of design and survey work of KTC, during which soil samples were analyzed in a special laboratory in Novosibirsk. Based on the results of the study, a technical solution was developed for the construction of two antenna mast structures with a height of 30 and 40 meters.

– The dumps consist of hard compressed soil with stones; in such places it is difficult to make a standard capital foundation several meters deep. Solution: «towers on weights», that is, using large concrete blocks. The number and weight of these blocks depends on the wind load, – explained Irina Meshcheryakova, technical director of the Kemerovo branch of VimpelCom.
