Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company PJSC Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2017 Operating Results

KEMEROVO, Russian Federation—February2, 2018 2:00 PM(UTC +7:00)—Kuzbasskaya Toplivnaya Company PJSC (KTK, MICEX: KBTK), one of the largest producers and exporters of thermal coal in Russia, today announced operating results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31,2017.

  • In the fourth quarter of 2017 the Company produced 3.80 million tonnes of coal, a 22% increase over the year-ago period.
  • The volume of commercial products grew by 21%,reaching 3.27 million tonnes.
  • Coal processing remained rose by 27%, and amounted to 2.68 million tonnes, which is 6% more than in the third quarter of 2017.
  • Total coal washing went down by 3% compared to the 2016 indicator, to 0.99million tonnes, of which 78% belongs to the Kaskad2 washing plant.
  • Coal-sorting volume went up by 55% compared to the year-ago level and by 8% to the third quarter of 2017, and amounted to 1.69million tonnes.
  • The volume of blasted rock mass was 11.15 million cbm, an increase of 16% for the quarter and 26% more compared to the year-ago period.

  • In the fourth quarter sales grew by 18% versus the volume of the previous quarter, reaching 3.73 million tonnes of coal. Year-over-year this figure shows a growth by 14%.
  • Fourth-quarter export sales went up by 10% to the third-quarter level, to 2.47 million tonnes, while compared to the year-ago period, export sales grew by 28%.
  • For the quarter, the share of export in total sales was 66%.
  • Domestic sales in the fourth quarter demonstrate a seasonal growth of 38% to 1.26 million tonnes.
  • The share of own-coal sales was 89%, while coal resale went up by 39 % quarter-over-quarter and by 8 % year-over-year, respectively.

  • For the full year 2017 the Company produced13.23 million tonnes of coal, which is 13% more than in 2016.
  • Commercial product volume in 2017 stood at 11.44 million tonnes, an increase of 13% in yearly terms.
  • Coal processing amounted to 9.70 million tonnes, 10% more than in 2016.
  • Total coal washing fell by 3% to 4 million tonnes. This reduction is due to the fact that Kascad 1 washing plant went through a technical re-equipment to increase capacity.
  • Coal-sorting volume increased by 21%to5.69 million tonnes.
  • The volume of blasted rock mass was 38.65 million cbm, a growth by 15%.
  • The average stripping transportation distance in the period rose by 9% year-over-year and reached 2.79 km.

In 2017 sales increased by 9% versus the volume of the previous year, reaching 12.08 million tonnes of coal.

Export sales amountedto8.72 million tonnes, representing72% of total sales.

Domestic-market coal sales fell by 7% compared to 2016, to 3.36 million tonnes.

Own-coal sales share was 91%.

Coal resale share declined by 6% compared to the year-ago level.

 

On April 5, 2018 the Company is planning to release its consolidated audited IFRS financial statements for the full year2017.
